Sometimes I ponder upon how I would like to live my life and ruminate on why do I keep on trying to improve myself or even bother to make changes. As I live through each day, there are times when these clumsy efforts seem so infinitely small and negligible, when I consider the purpose of it all… I would recall this dialogue below from Star Trek: TNG (Episode: Offspring) between Data and his daughter, Lal. (And yes, I am a geek.)
Lal: Then why do you still try to emulate humans? What purpose does it serve except to remind you that you are incomplete?
Data: I have asked myself that many times, as I have struggled to be more human. Until I realized, it is the struggle itself that is most important. We must strive to be more than we are, Lal. It does not matter that we will never reach our ultimate goal. The effort yields its own rewards.
Well, Data pretty much summarized everything and is a constant reminder for me on why I go on trying. ‘To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield’. ~ Tennyson
Below are links on my struggles. My Journey as I prefer to call them. I’ve always longed to be more than I am now… to be all that I could be. Some are whimsical, but all are adventures that I would like to experience committed in writing. No longer pies in the sky.
